- Use 1 cup semolina/ suji/ rava
- Use 2 tbsp oil
- Take 1 tsp mustard seeds

- Dry roast the rava for very few seconds on low flame, keep aside to cool completely.
- In a large kadai heat 2 tbsp oil & add 1 tsp mustard seeds,1/2 tsp urad dal, 1/2 tsp chana dal,2 green chillies & few curry leaves.
- Now saute till the mustard seeds splutter.
- Add in the chopped onions, chopped ginger & saute well.
- Now pour 3 cups water & get to boil.
- Then add 1/2 tsp sugar, salt to taste,1 tsp ghee & mix well.
- Keeping the flame on low start adding the roasted rava slowly stirring continuously.
- This helps to prevent from any lumps formation.
- Mix continuously till the rava absorbs water.
- Simmer & cover with a lid on low flame for 5 mints or till upma is cooked well.
- Add 1/2 lemon juice & mix well.
- Serve the delicious,healthy rava upma/ uppittu with coconut chutney.
