Steps to make Kumbakonam kadappa:
  1. Grind coconut, roasted chana dal, fennel seeds, green chillies and garlic cloves together into a fine paste.
  2. Chop the onions finely.
  3. Boil the potatoes
  4. Soak the moong dal for 10 minutes and cook it for 2 whistles in high flame
  5. Heat oil in kadai then add mustard seeds,cinnamon stick, cumin seeds and bay leaf once the oil is hot
  6. Add onions and curry leaves saute it till the onion turns translucent in colour.then add ginger garlic paste and cook it for a minute.
  7. Add the cooked dal and mix it well. then add required salt and 1/2 tsp turmeric powder.
  8. Add the chopped boiled potato and cook well for 2 minutes
  9. Add coconut paste mix it and cook once it starts to boil turn off the stove
  10. Serve it hot
