- Take 3/4 cup toor dal
- Provide 1/4 cuo moong dal
- Prepare 3 cups water
- You need As per taste salt
- Get 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- You need 1 tsp Red chilli powder
- Prepare 1/4 tsp cumin powder
- Prepare 1/2 tsp Coriander powder
- Get Pinch asafoetida
- Take 1/4 tsp Chopped ginger
- Prepare 1/4 tsp Garam masala
- Use 1 tsp Jaggery
- You need 1/2 tomato finely chopped
- You need 1 tbsp ghee
- Prepare 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
- Get 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- Prepare 1 bayleaf
- Get 3-4 curry leaves
- Prepare 1/2 lemon
- Provide 1 tbsp finely chopped coriander
- You need For dulhan:
- You need 1 cup wheat flour
- Provide As per taste salt
- Prepare 1/4 tsp turmeric
- Prepare 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
- Use 2 tsp oil
- Provide As required water for kneading
Instructions to make Dal ki dulhan:
- Firstly wash toor dal and moong dal 3-4 times. Then transfer in a pressure cooker. Add 2 cups water and cover the lid. Cook it for 6-7 whistles.
- Now for dulhan, take a mixing bowl and add flour. Add turmeric, salt, oil and red chilli powder. Add water and start kneading dough. Make a soft dough.
- After pressure settles down, open the lid of cooker. Whisk the dal with whisker or blend it by using blender.
- Heat a kadai, add ghee. Now splutter mustard seed, then add cumin seeds, bayleaf, chopped Ginger,curry leaves and asafoetida.
- Then add chopped tomatoes, turmeric, red chilli powder, cumin powder,coriander powder, garam masala and salt. Saute for a minute.
- Then pour dal mixture and add rest of water. Also add jaggery. Mix it well and let it boil.
- From a dough, take a small portion and roll the roti. Cut the small pooris by using round mould or small bowl.
- To shape the dumplings, lift opposite sides of poori and bring together at centre. Then lift the other opposite sides and bring it together at centre. Now it will look like hollow flower shaped dumplings.
- Transfer all dumplings slowly in the dal. Let it boil for 5-6 minutes.
- Now squeeze the lemon juice and sprinkle chopped coriander. Serve it hot. Dal ki Dulhan is ready.
